About Women Building Connections

Our story began just a few months before COVID, in November 2019. A small group of women business owners, led by Alissa Turnbull of Turnbull Realty, gathered in the old co-working space in downtown Holly Springs, to begin building connections with other women business owners.

Five years later, under a new name but with the same mission, our group now meets across town at host and member Tania Molite’s restaurant, Manhattan Pizza.

We are women business owners and leaders, community advocates and change makers, moms, partners, caregivers — yes, we wear all the hats you’d expect, and that you likely wear yourself.

Our Group’s Core Activities

VISIBILITY: Our weekly one-hour meetings are full and vibrant. Most days we take time for members to share brief updates or :30 “elevator pitches”. We shout out our sisters in social media where we can, expanding our visibility and networks.

REFERRALS: As we gain trust and confidence in our sisters, we make (and track), quality referrals —introducing someone we know to a fellow member who may be able to serve them.

CONNECTION: At least once a month, we provide in-meeting time for members to meet 1-on-1 or in small groups for deeper conversation to learn about each others’ business and brainstorm ideas. While it’s not required, many of us gather socially for birthdays and other events once a month or so.

GROWTH: Twice a year, members have an opportunity to lead a 10-minute presentation about their business, their area of expertise, and their lives. We also invite members and guest speakers to share information of value to our group’s interests.

IDEATION: At least once a month we provide opportunities for a rotation of members to bring challenges, questions or ideas to the group in a mastermind/brainstorming style discussion. We benefit immeasurably from each others’ experiences!
